Stop #14: Yuma St & Tenley Circle NW
On the west side of the circle was once a stone structure that housed the Seminary of Our Lady Immaculate, established in 1905. It offered a first-rate education to a ‘select’ female student body. As girls increasingly rejected religious single-sex education, it was decided to sell the campus to American University. One of the activities offered to the girls at Immaculata was archery.
