At the southwest corner of American University campus is Dunblane, one of the last remaining estate houses in Tenleytown. It was building in the early 1800’s in the Greek Revival style. When fox hunting grew fashionable later that century, the house hosted the elite Dumblane Hunt (club). Eventually the grounds were sold to the Immaculate Seminary and the mansion was adapted in to hold elementary school classes.
